  • What makes this wine special? Neuburger is a typical Moravian variety that is slowly disappearing, because it's not easy to work in the vineyard and as "immediately impressive" as some more expressive grapes. There's unique beauty and harmony to it, so when you have a skilled grower like Zdeněk Vykoukal who has a true understanding of the grape and great limestone-rich terroir, the wine can be a breathtaking experience that shows why saving the local grape legacy matters!
  • Notes of orange rind, blossoms, apple, peach, apricot, beeswax as well as honey and ginger – the wine is rich and lush yet balanced by the pleasant acidity, which makes this a great wine for gastronomy pairings. Serve chilled.
  • This bottle is perfect for... treating yourself – enjoying with food

  • Pair it with...  richer fish and poultry dishes – creamy pasta – risotto

Stará Hora Vineyard, loess on limestone rich in marine fossils.

How the wine is made

Approximately 30% of the grapes had noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) when harvested, which leads to natural balance and richness of flavours.

The grapes underwent 24 hours of maceration on the skins. Fermented spontaneously, no artificial yeast added. The wine aged for 12 months in an older 600-liter acacia barrel, and then further 6 months in a stainless steel tank. No filtration, no fining, no additives except for a small dose of SO2 at bottling.

Meet the winemaker

Zdeněk is a die-hard heavy metal fan (he even plays guitar in a local band), but his wines are more like a classic symphony: elegant, intricate, and full of beautiful details.

His vines thrive on the unique limestone soils of Austerlitz, Czech Republic, a small town famous for the formidable Napoleonic battle fought there in 1805.
