Stará Škola 2021 is a field blend from the Herzánovi family’s oldest vineyard—featuring Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Sylvaner, Neuburger, Müller-Thurgau, and Pálava all grown together, harvested together, and fermented together the old-school way.

What makes this wine special? All the grapes come from a single microplot, where varieties grow side by side and are harvested together—some underripe, some overripe. That natural variation creates a beautifully balanced tension between freshness and ripeness. Wild-fermented and aged in used oak, this field blend is seamless, expressive, and totally one-of-a-kind.

This bottle is perfect for... thoughtful sipping – slow meals – surprising your wine friends.
Pair it with... mushroom dishes – root vegetables – aged cheeses – or anything that deserves a bit of old-world soul.

How the wine is made

This field blend comes from their oldest vines and is crafted in the “old school” way: grapes from multiple white varieties are whole-bunch pressed, then a small portion is given a month of skin contact. Both lots are blended and fermented with native yeasts, then aged together in used oak barrels for about a year. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulphites.

This wine comes from Herzánovi’s oldest vines and is made using traditional techniques: field blending, partial skin contact, and zero additives. It’s both a tribute to the past and a quiet rebellion against modern winemaking shortcuts.
